What a fabulous experience my son had yesterday with his favourite animal. Thank you to Barbara for being so patient after i dropped my phone in the hippo pond. Worth every penny…….what a great experience.
Based at Heythrop Zoological Gardens in Oxfordshire, Amazing Animals is the UK’s major animal trainer and supplier of exotic species to the film industry. They also offer close-up animal experiences where you can get to meet some of these wonderful creatures under the supervision of expert, qualified, trainers. And best of all, this is the only place in the UK that we’ve found to offer a sloth experience.

With so many great animal encounters, Amazing Animals offers some really unusual experiences, such as wolves and ravens, alongside the lovely tigers and penguins. But our favourite is the Sloth Experience.
And because we can’t find anywhere else in the country that you can meet and greet these little charmers, there’s even more reason to get in while you can and book your sloth meet and greet. Sloths are wonderful little guys, very furry and with kind faces and appealing big eyes, so we don’t see how anybody can fail to warm to them and end up wanting to take them home.
And as their name implies, they don’t do a lot of rushing about. They eat mainly leaves, and have super-long tongues of 12 inches or more (30 cm) so they can get at more leaves without exerting themselves too much. “Leave the leaping about to the monkeys’ you can almost hear them thinking.
They’re mammals like us, but to save energy, they even run at a lower temperature than we do, so it comes as no surprise that when they’ve filled up on leaves, it can take a month or more to digest them! We certainly like the idea of taking it easy and resting a lot (they sleep 18 hours a day or more), but I’m not at all sure we’d get used to the hanging upside down part of it!
