Drusillas Park is a very friendly wildlife park, not far from Brighton or Eastbourne down in the heart of Sussex, near the coast, with a range of face-to-face animals experiences which they call Close Encounters.
- Lunch with the lemurs
- Meerkats meeting
- Tea with the coatis or beavers
- Feed the penguins
- Picnic with the red pandas
- Snuggle up to the snakes
- Tickle the tarantulas (rather you than me for this one!)
- Zoo keeper for the day
They’re all one on one experiences, lasting 30 to 40 minutes, and will involve feeding the animals (odd isn’t it how all animals love you when you’re feeding them?), and helping the keepers in part of their daily routines.
Experiencey Top Tip
Keeper for the day is just what it says – you get to shadow and help a real keeper as he does all the stuff that keepers do to keep their animals happy, in tip-top condition, and ready to receive visitors.
But unlike most zookeeper for the day experiences, this experience has a minimum age of only six years, so makes a very well-received surprise birthday treat for youngsters. And as they say on their website, there’s no maximum age, so it’s an ideal one for the grandparents to go with them.
If you’re looking for a family-friendly animal experience, then look no further.
