London Zoo is one of the world’s oldest zoos but it’s certainly moved with the times. Now the zoo runs quite a few animal experience days as well as wildlife photography workshops, run by professional photographer Dave Stevenson.
If you know London you’ll know the zoo, which is really easy enough to get to in Regent’s Park. The zoo runs experience days with giraffes, just like it’s sister site in Whipsnade. You can also get experience days with meerkats, penguins and it’s one of the few places where you can feed kangaroos.
One of the more unusual experiences at London zoo is the rainforest experience, within London’s only indoor rainforest. On this experience you can see and feed tamarin monkeys, red TiTi monkeys and even get to see sloths. It’s to our eternal disappointment that you don’t get to cuddle the sloths or have them hang around your neck. But this is the closest you’re going to get to a UK sloth experience. Oh we love sloths!
It’s no surprise that you can get the classic zookeeper experience days and junior keeper experiences here too. The zoo also runs a few nice experiences for children like the junior zoo academy for kids between 8-10.
Our Experiencey top tip
It’s important to note that if you buy a ‘meet the animals’ experience, this doesn’t cover park entry so the lucky recipient will need to buy a ticket to get into the park. However the zoo have included some of their ‘meet the animals’ experiences into gift packs, which include zoo entry for 2 people and one Meet the Animals experience for 2 people.
Remember that experiences differ between the two zoos. Because they share different parts of the same website, it get’s a bit confusing about which experiences are available where!
